Here’s a tricky one: I’ve worked with a company remotely for a year (9-5 contract). It’s all going incredibly well. I’ve never met my boss or any teammate in person but we have a great virtual working relationship. For personal reasons, I am visiting the city where most of the team is based. I have a busy sked but could meet up for lunch or coffee. Since we get along so well, I’m hesitant to change the dynamic in any way. Is catching up in person a good idea, bad idea, makes no difference?

Has anyone left big 4 or other PA firms tax transaction service groups for industry (or know of anyone)? What was the role and salary bump, how are annual bonuses/raises in industry, what is a typical work week (hours) like? I don’t think I can take this always on just to stay afloat life much longer. For context I am considered a high performer, am near the top of the salary band at my level and have a great supporting network at Deloitte. It’s just not worth it to have zero personal life.

When would be the right time for me to get an MBA given my background?

I was a teacher for 4 years and transitioned into the corporate world. I have 6 months experience in marketing and that’s what I currently do, but plan for a lateral move in the future. I’ve seen suggestions of 3-7 years experience - does my teaching experience factor in? Or should I consider the 3-7 years only of my corporate time? Or is an MBA sooner a good move because of my big career transition (and future lateral)?

I’ve been a freelance print production designer for many years, and usually on-site in the before times. Now I work remote, and am finding it uneasy dealing with billing.
