I don’t care what y’all think...Navy Yard is hands down the best neighborhood in DC (and I’m not a Rebublican if that matters)

Hard agree. Easy access to grocery stores and outdoor space, walkable to the national mall and Eastern Market, quick drive to VA and MD, multiple metro lines, quiet at night but lively during the day. Nice apartments that are much more affordable than NW. What's not to like?

likeupliftingsmart

I'm convinced that people who like to hate on navy yard have been to like one Nats game and ate at Buffalo Wild Wings and are now convinced they are the expert at determining how much the neighborhood is like Clarendon.

likefunnysmart

If you like gentrified neighborhoods with very unique stores like Whole Foods and all luxurious apartments that look the same, navy yard is great

like

Oh and SC2 I know exactly what you’re talking about too being EOTR haha. We are happy w it over here though. Most of what people worry about is over dramatized I feel. Stuff does happen but usually happens between people who know each other. People don’t bother us and we don’t have any issues here

Is Navy Yard known for being republican leaning? Hard to believe in DC.

On another note, I am actively considering that area, it is beautiful.

like

What apt building are you in?

Compadre, it’s a new administration, Navy Yard is totally fair game now

like

Yes, absolutely. A few months ago, I ran into a “red” neighbor who worked for the old administration and she was preparing to move back home to Georgia

likeuplifting

Lmao throwing in the “I’m not Republican bit” was necessary because I was about to put you on blast.

Been here 10 years and Navy Yard feels like a theme park, not like the rest of the city

like

@D4 “Spare us the myopic view that building nice places that people want to inhabit in us bad dot the city’s bottom line.” Was not what I was saying but OK.

I agree.

Soccer fields with regular pick up games, easy access to sports venues (Chinatown, Audi, nats park). Anthem is tied for my favorite music venue with 930 club. I’ve also phased out of the u st/h st/DuPont bar scenes so it works for me.

From a work perspective, my big civilian agency clients are in SW.

like

Totally. I really don’t get the hate from other threads.

Completely agreed, except SW waterfront is better (even before they built it up). And I am a republican. Glad we can agree on something

likeuplifting

SA1 - used to live in SW and loved it. Just a couple blocks from Wharf, National Mall, quiet but still convenient. If I didn’t buy a place around downtown would have stayed

like

I don’t understand how or why politics had any relevance in your post, op. No need for a disclaimer to defend yourself just because you like Navy Yard.

like

Def not a Republican, MS1 🚫

Lovely view! Really wishing I had squeezed the trigger on movong there from nova a couple months ago.

Nice view, good for you and thanks for sharing!

Hi neighbor! I’m in the Maren next door :) definitely agree Navy Yard is the best neighborhood!!

uplifting

Hi neighbor! Feel free to DM if you wanna grab coffee or meet in the dog park next door (that is, if you have a pup or you can just play with mine lol)

Ok I used to be super hard anti navy yard but it is slowly growing on me... shhhh.

funny

Hello, colleague from when I was at BAH 😊 I think I know who you are!

funny

The open space there is fantastic. Easy access to the trails and green space makes it worth it. Only gripe is that Bardo has a great location for a brewery, but their beer tastes like ass. The worst I have ever had in over 2000 unique beers.

like

Thank goodness I’m not a beer person!

Navy Yard - where two teenagers can stun gun and kill an Asian Uber driver and avoid jail time!

like

They were 13 and 15 so they plea bargained their way to jail/juve until they’re 21.

Can’t believe people that young would do that. Sad to see.

OP here again...just wanted to share that the most gorgeous double rainbow appeared in my backyard yesterday. I took it as a sign for better days ahead! :)

There is lots of companies really taking a hit in the tech space. Is this something that people are nervous about? (1/2) Hi all, based in the UK 🇬🇧, would appreciate your advice on how I could break into product management.

Context: Graduated in 2019 (Finance), 2 years at EY as a business consultant on mix of pmo projects and tech projects where I was developer (data vis, power platform, sql, vba, data analysis etc.). Joined Google on a 6 month contract as a data analyst.

Should I be applying for product analyst roles? Should I apply for strategy consulting? Could I go straight for prod mgmt roles?

I had a panel interview two weeks ago. I sent the recruiter a status check email last Friday and haven't heard back. I'm really interested in this company and still see the role posted on their site. I'd like to send another email today (to the hiring mgr and recruiter) reiterating my interest along with a list of references. Thoughts on sending the references without them asking? I don't do well with panel interviews and I'm hoping they look past that and check my references.

Hey Fishes, I am a business analyst with 8 years IT experience and drawing 20 LPA currently. Planning to switch and want to know where I stand in terms of compensation to ask for the right compensation. Let me know.

So, a recruiter gave me feedback that my lack SPHR or SHRM-SCP is causing my resume to be knock out by AI and human recruiters despite my position and work history in Multinationals and being in Technology. They suggested that we put SPHR ( Lapsed). I let it lapse in 2017. What is your opinion? Plus if I were to take another certification - should I take SPHR or SHRM-SCP?

Team just applied for a TS Clearance (defense agency). Trying to assess if it makes sense to wait till the clearance comes through (6 months to a year?) before I job hop. I'm hoping to get some clarity on the following:
1. Can my company withdraw or cancel my clearance if I leave right after I secure a TS?
2. In terms of compensation, how much value (% compensation) does a TS clearance have in the DC area? Places I'm considering: AWS, Azure, GCP, Data bricks, Appian etc.
Any advice, thanks!
