Separated recently not knowing exact reason except downsizing the workforce due to Covid-19. Good pay out but disappointed the way exit treatment.. Any help appreciated - looking for technical positions in cloud space (oracle, AWS and azure) .. planning to get certified on kubernet.
My mother-in-law passed away 2 weeks ago (not Covid and somewhat unexpected). I work in a small, tight knit group or so I thought. I let them all know through email and got the obligatory "sorry for your loss", but since then we received no other acknowledgement. When other team members had parents pass I've always sent flowers or donated to the cause they requested. This is bothering me more than it probably should. Should I say anything or just let it go?
Hey fishes, based on your own experience during Covid, any idea on how much time it takes under standard processing for H1B transfers? Mine was filed mid September.
Put on a bit of weight during COVID and have a pretty serious interview coming up this Friday. Any suggestions on dresses? Likely a size 16 at the moment - really want to look put together but I can’t find anything!
How easy is it to switch offices (from one city to another) at your firm? Signed an offer pre-covid for an office across the country and now really wishing I could stay in place. (Start date was pushed back so I haven’t moved yet.)
Got laid off due to Covid in July. I have been searching for a job for three weeks. Diligently looking and applying. I keep getting rejection letters and Linkedin resume views, but no offers. Not even a single interview. My resume looks great and experience is amazing. Anyone else in the same boat? Misery needs company 😝
Hello my fellow PAs, How are your clients handling COVID since most aspects of our jobs went remote? I’ve been working through emails and less phone calls. But I doubt this will hold up much longer. What do you think?
For all the US COVID response negativity here’s some math. Turns out maybe Sweden’s model was not the right one....
Hi Ladies, I was impacted by the COVID-19 layoffs a few weeks ago and let go from my job at Deloitte. I have 2 years experience as an IT Auditor with the big 4 and I am in search of a new job. I’m currently residing in Atlanta Any recommendations on where to apply would be greatly appreciated.
I’m so confused about if business travel is really going to be frequent this fall due to the COVID cases rising….
Need in-law advice. We’ve been very careful with COVID. Our children are too young to be vaccinated. We are visiting parents-in-law (elderly, vaccinated) and sister-in-law (her and her husband vaccinated, two small kids aren’t but they arrived early and are past incubation period). This is an isolated lake house. Turns out this whole other family is staying in the house. We weren’t informed. They are not vaccinated yet all are eligible. One, a camp counselor, is now ill w/ fever, cough, etc.
Which firms have strong public sector strategy practices outside of McK and BCG? Thinking in terms of projects such as digital strategy for a federal agency, COVID response plans, K-12 education restructuring roadmap Not so much PMO or tech implementation projects
Is it just me but have political correctness, individualism and self esteem mongering gone too far? I can’t tell anything to my 22 year old daughter unless it’s sweet, light and approving at all times. Any instruction, input advice has to be provided in sweet tones or I am mean and vicious. I feel so fake about not being irritated, anxious or impatient around her, always this carefully cultivated calm model mother. It’s COVID times and we have had a death in the family, gods sake! Let me be me!
K work: I charge X amount per court appearance (flat fee)+ hourly billing. (Criminal) COViD 19 has allowed for telephonic appearance. Do I bill for appearance (as if in person)or put it under hourly?
What does SAG think about all these signatory agencies using their employees as talent for their COVID ads? Has there been some sort of blanket exemption granted?
Hi McKinsey 🐟 Compared to the Associate role, is the Associate Implementation more role change management implementation or tech / tools coding focused, or neither? Is there a difference in comp?
Interviewing with PWC digital risk solutions group - any pointers on what I can expect or any knowledge from people who are familiar with the DRS group. Input on company culture would also be great.
Hi Fishes! I’m a newly promoted S1 in tax at a Top 10. I’m trying to join the Big 4 post 10/15 (preferably KPMG) Does anyone have any tips or suggestions to make it in? I had an interview with EY two weeks ago (before I was officially a senior), but never heard back, probably because they were looking for a senior lol. 😭 Thank you so much everyone!
At kpmg, we get per diem $50-70 a day and we keep it whether we spend it or not. At other Big 4 I heard y’all get actuals? So if you get $50 for dinner, are people actually eating fancy dinners daily?
Remember the pilot episode of The Office when Michael calls Pam into his office and pretends to fire her? That happened to me today.... BUT I GOT A RAISE AT THE END.
I expect my firm has layoffs or furloughs after June but I love where I’m at and am on cusp of promotion to M. I think applying is a must but should I stay if I do get something?
Big picture question: How did you settle on a FIRE number? Originally I did the simple "estimated annual living expenses divided by 4% rule", but am now second guessing that for many reasons. For example, if I want to live on 70,000 per year, I'll need 1.75MM... but what if 70,000 in 20 years won't be a ton of money? Also, what about saving up for kid's college funds? How to account for the possibility of tax law changes? So many questions!
I was laid off from a resource management role, working with employees approaching or on the bench, working with managers to staff projects, and support functions like report creation, scheduling, etc. Roles like this are few and many large consulting firms have frozen internal hiring. Do you think it would be beneficial to get a SHRM cert? Would that help get a "talent related" HR role? Worth the money? I have a background in recruitment as well.
My current company is working on onboarding me to a new client. I accepted a verbal offer from another firm this week and haven’t signed anything. I would prefer to wait to give notice until all formalities are completed and background check clears. How do I delay client onboarding? Or do I just go along and burn the bridge in a couple weeks?
Here is my idea for a startup! I collect all the data from career transitions and use Data Analytics to predict the most likely career transitions. I could start with consulting. What do you guys think about this? I would be able to predict based on your firm(mbb, big4), your experience, which role you are likely to move (Faang pm, strategy manager, move to mbb). I have all the data to do this, but wanted your thoughts. Would the output of this be relevant to you?
Did you discuss salary/title before an offer was extended? What timeline from interview?
Where do you go in nyc to do phone interviews?

Do any of you who consider yourself primarily investment based, do taxes and p&c insurance? Would it be too much to handle as a sole producer with an assistant or 2?
