I'm very curious, to see and hear how all of you justify time spent/ showing productivity during the discovery and early design stages of an MVP. Especially during interviews information gathering and very early idea conceptualization. If you are the only designer on a team even better.

I ask because I've had difficulties justifying my productivity or hours spent to management. However my peers and designers on other teams say the workloads I'm completing are above and beyond.

Got an offer for SE III at a large tech company. Product I'd be working on interests me and I think I could grow more than in my current role.

Currently I make 180k base and have ISO/RSUs @ startup (60k/yr worth on paper, but won't be worth anything for a few years, if at all).

The offer is:
Base: $166,500
Target Bonus: 10% ($16,650)
RSU: 120k total (30k/yr)

Thoughts on offer? Should I counter?

Additionally there's a yearly target RSU bonus about equal to the cash bonus. Thoughts? 4.5 YOE

What’s the company that pays the most to UX Designers?

I am product designer with a fair amount of experience (6yrs).

Recently was interviewed for a Sr. role in Booking but unfortunately the team finds me better suited as a core individual contributor.

I am also in the advanced stages of some lead designer positions in other companies.

However I am really interested in joining the team at Booking, especially because of the design culture.

What should be my reasons to accept or not accept the offer from booking?

Wondering everyone’s take on password-protecting your UX portfolios? I have some case studies from a previous B2B startup I worked at. Although the work isn’t under an NDA, I’m wondering if it’d appear more professional if there were a password. Alternatively, any advice on how much detail to show on a case study in situations like this?

Any tips for writing a self-review? I have low self esteem and think I’m bad at everything, so it’s hard to know what to put in ‘super powers’ and ‘areas of development’. I’m in a pit of a pickle…I’m leading my very first project (case study) with a team of 5. We’re all in different countries and different time zones 😬

What do I need to include on the project plan/roadmap so there’s a clear understanding of what our goals are? How do I get everything to align for success and how do I keep everyone motivated?

I’m doing my first UX portfolio on Wix. I have the case studies content drafted out, but I’m struggling with brainstorming wireframes/actual UI for my case studies. I make it a rule to look for dribbble/behance for inspo but only sketch when im not looking at things because I don’t want to copy directly.

I’ve tried using paper/thin markers highlighters, tried using procreate, and also illustrator/photoshop & a tablet. I keep running into issues where I feel overwhelmed. How do I simplify this?

What should I charge for an hourly rate for contract work (general UX)? I’m mid-level designer with 2 years experience. I used to work full time for the company so they know me well and have asked me to do 4-6 hours a week for a month or so. I’m based in the UK so £GBP rates 👍

Hey! I'm just about to start doing some freelance work for a NYC based boutique design studio, and I need to give a hiring manager my hourly rate to give his customers. I am new to UI/UX design. I have experience in graphic design, but I just completed a certificate in UI/UX design so other than school projects I don't have an extensive amount of experience. What would you suggest I should charge? I am more interested in gaining experience than needing the money, but want to be payed reasonably.

Question from a recent UX Bootcamp grad: I currently have a single case study in my portfolio. Upon reading somewhere that 2 case studies are required to be considered by recruiters, I stopped applying to jobs for about 2 months as I work on a second case study when I can.
