What's the best route for early career, agency or in-house?

What would you say are the best combination of skills for software engineering now?

Currently a first year staff in Risk Advisory in a Mid-Tier Firm hoping to move to Big 4 for either Risk or Cyber. When would be the most appropriate time to make the change? I heard that Senior Staff in mid-tier would most likely be hired as an “Experienced Hire” in Big 4. So would it be smarter to make the move now as a first year staff since I’ll be considered Experienced Hire anyway?

Is it a good Idea to switch after 6 months if project is not suitable or should stay for longer?

What is the most useful technical or soft skills for any mechanical engineer to have where you work? I’m curious to know what really matters for everyone and what makes a big impact on the team and business.

Specifics if you can; CAD tools, simulation, CAD speed or proficiency, industry or standards knowledge, GD&T, certifications, Microsoft Excel, presentation skills, technical writing, project management, self organization, great communication, teaching ability, relationship building, etc.

I have to pick a direction to move ahead in, Brand & Marketing Design(with website) vs Product design (Games UXUI , Physical and digital)

I have a solid background in both, so keeping preference aside - which direction do you think makes more sense to gain more experience in? And will make more sense for the future.

Fellow underwriters what do you do for VOI on OTR Truck Drivers who have not filed a tax return and can only provide a recent 1099 or earnings statement. My institution does not use 1099 as historically this income is before expenses. I’m doing my first UX portfolio on Wix. I have the case studies content drafted out, but I’m struggling with brainstorming wireframes/actual UI for my case studies. I make it a rule to look for dribbble/behance for inspo but only sketch when im not looking at things because I don’t want to copy directly.

What's the protocol for adding internal portal mockups for a client to your portfolio? Is it expected, something that requires asking permission but is still generally OK, or frowned upon? I'm a developer trying to pivot to UX.

Nothing in the contract bc our SOW was originally dev only. If I need permission, I have a good rapport with the Corp Comm director and VP so would I contact them on LinkedIn, or is this something that's normally done through the employer?
