Advice for an insurance broker who is looking to move out of the industry or at least out of the broker side? Maybe any internal risk opportunities?
Just starting to interview for in-house positions, looking to leave Big Law as a 6th year after bonus this year, but a little wary with the looming recession. If companies are hiring now knowing that is potentially on the horizon, you would think you’d be safe in 6-9 months when it hits. Any advice on how to broach the recession topic in an interview?
Is anyone here feeling the effects of inflation salary-wise? I feel bad complaining about it because I do pretty well, but I am considering travel nursing or another career move. What does everyone think?

Husband and I have been on a long journey TTC, and haven’t been on a vacation since September, just before we found out about our second trimester loss. Now, he doesn’t want to plan any trips so we can save $ for IVF - planned retrieval in late March. Would you recommend we do *something* to get out of town, or will I want to hunker down as I go through retrieval(s) and transfer? It’s been a long, sad slog.
Interested in investing advice: (a) I am currently maxing out my Firm’s 401K; (b) I make too much for a Roth IRA; and (c) I cannot contribute pre-tax to a traditional IRA due to Firm rules. How may I most effectively invest for retirement? Do IRA anyways? A brokerage account? Thanks in advance!
How do you work with a planner? We hired a planner for our 2023 wedding, but I feel like we are waiting for her to make moves and tell us what to do. Vendors are booking up but I don’t want to annoy her because I know she has 2022 weddings. I have no idea how to navigate this relationship.

Why is the current rate for a very senior UX Lead hourly rate?
Backstory: my employer is “eliminating” my position and gave me 90 day notice. Now that we are at the end, they asked about me contracting there still.
I'm currently working in Architecture working on transitioning into UX Design. I took a UX class through UCLA Extension for a quarter and so far (from a fairly objective view) I'm ahead of the game than the rest of my peers since I already have a lot of transferrable skills like software & design skills. I'm planning to take one more quarter of class. Will that be enough to put together a portfolio along with architecture pieces?
Any recommendations on good online courses for someone looking to explore Ux design? I am a service designer looking to learn more about ux design to broaden my design experience. I am looking for courses that help you build a portfolio and eventually land a job in product and experience design. I am checking out product design courses at dribble, Brian station and careerfoundry but haven’t found more independent reviews or comparisons.
I have the option of switching from a lead UX designer to a principle UX designer in my current company. How will this title change be looked upon by recruiters/hiring managers on LinkedIn or at the next company I apply to? Would the pay bands be higher or lower?
Designers, what is your relationship like with your PM and Design Manager? How do you typically work together?
Is it normal for a Product Owner to lay out specs for how a feature should work?
I thought that was my job as the ux designer to figure out the best way to solve a need. But I’m getting handed projects where the PO, and sometimes the senior designer has laid out exactly what should happen (components used, flow, etc) to design a feature. It’s really frustrating because I don’t know if I’m supposed to be speaking up on what I think or just do the UI work I’m asked to.
Does anyone know about salaries at Liebherr?
I have a $1200 stipend for learning at my work - Any suggestions from fellow Product Designers for recommendations?
I’m thinking so far about a UX writing course since we don’t have writers and I dictate the copy for elements as the designer.
I’m looking for any good recommendations around problem framing (books, resources, frameworks, etc.) What are you people doing to nail identifying product problems, before moving into shaping? Cheers!
👋 hi! I’m hoping for advise re informational interviews or informal virtual meetings with industry peers. What’s the etiquette/ expectation? As context, I’m not job searching, just starting to think about where I’d like to be next (after about another year). Thanks in advance 🙏
Have an interview tomorrow for a senior UX designer 🙂
How do I answer these questions
Any advice would be greatly appreciated
1. What was the breakpoint for design
2. Did you design the components and design system?
3. How was your handoff to developers (I've never one that)
4. Wht was the most challenging part of this project.
5. What is something you would re-design if you were to go back.
Hey all, I’m about to do my final (full day) interview at Google and I’m super excited but a bit nervous.
Anyone who’s gone through it willing to share some tips? Also how much time did you spend prepping for this interview specifically?
I’ve been interviewing with Google since July. Passed the first interview but the team I was matched with ended up hiring someone else. Recruiter told me that she will let me know if any other opportunities arise as I’m still in the running and haven’t been rejected. I know that interviewing with google is a long process but I’m worried the longer I wait the more likely I will be rejected or just never hear back. Anyone else in this situation? How long until you got an offer?
Hi, all! I am an emerging UX designer and I would love some tips and ideas for polishing up my resume and portfolio so I can get my first real job. What advice can you give a junior designer to stand out from the crowd?
Have 3 years of work/ research experience and I just had a recruiter land in my email asking me to apply for a UX research internship and part of the application process includes a “research challenge”.
