Can’t go wrong with Jacob’s
Harbour 60, Barberian
Homemade steak baby!!
Of the ones I’ve been to:
Barberians = most old school, maybe had best steak (but not insanely better than the others). Have not been to Jacob’s but some people I know said it edged out Barberians.
Blue bloods = great atmosphere (Casa Loma), very pricey but was good
Black and blue = good mix of raw bar & sushi that others don’t have (sashimi, etc). Great wagyu selection, but felt not enough steak variety on menu for a steakhouse. Cool restaurant a bit more of a corporate dinner feel than a date night. Booths there seemed good for groups
Harbor 60 = more of a pre-leafs game corporate type crowd, felt overpriced for what it is. I’d go if it was on the company tab though. I think it’s closed right now?
Rising Star
You’d probably need to describe what you mean by best.
Hys is great, STK has great vibe and good value, but it’s up in Yorkville.
Best food
I’ll say that I’ve never actually enjoyed a meal at Jacobs
Vibe is blah, they commit a crime against steak by serving it pre-sliced / sharing style (which you can ask them not to do, so was only an issue the first time I went), I’ve never had the food arrive properly hot, the appetizers are all _fine_ but not of the quality that would be inferred by the venue…and most importantly, I don’t find the steaks particularly tasty or satisfying
It’s not that anything is horrible, but everything is a little bit meh, and for that price and reputation that doesn’t fly for me. Would much rather go to Barberians for a really good steak, better experience, and marginally better vibe - even if it were the firm’s money and not my own, tbh.
Also, not a fan of Harbour Sixty. Overpriced and pretty generic seeming steak. Solid vibe but more corporate and drug dealers (not kidding) and pre-Leafs crowds
