For those of you in IB, are there analysts who just aren't cut out for banking (or finance)? I'm not talking about burning out, I'm wondering how many want to stay and don't get offers.

We do a pretty decent job of weeding people like that out during the internship process. After a 10 week stint it’s easy to tell who is capable and who isn’t.

Really? What firm?

I think BB does a poor job of eliminating chafe. That being said, you can’t let go that many interns anyways otherwise you’re just rolling the dice for full time. Better the enemy you know that the one you don’t.

Plenty aren’t cut out for it but that doesn’t mean they can’t leverage that for something different

In our group, there is always that one analyst in each class who isn’t cut out for it. They somehow all got the full time offer due to a number of reasons.

This is gonna sound super bigheaded & egotistical but I promise it’s coming from a humble place

I’m what you could call an over achiever. Damn near straight A’s all my life without really trying. Graduated school straight to a six figure job, wrapping up my masters, and I’m in real estate & stocks. I work out often, so I’m fit, and I’m considered a “chad” I guess you could say

I get a lot of praise for these things and sometimes I just don’t know what to say. I say thank you of course (cont)
