Hi all,
I am currently seeking a new role within Finance and a lot of companies are asking about what is your expected salary. I am unsure of what to ask based on my experience.
I’ve worked at Citi for 3.5 years in FX Operations (no growth opportunities so I left without ever getting any promotion or a pay rise). Then, I worked at TP ICAP in Settlements team for 6 months.

Would someone be able to advise what’s the salary range I should be aiming for?
Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Look for job postings in NY or in Colorado. They will show the salary range for the job and you can pick something inside the range.

Forgot to mention that I live in the UK, Belfast.

Have you done any research on what the roles you want pay? Start there and see where you fall on their experience range compared to the pay range.

Example: role asks for 3-7 years, $150-250k, if you have 5 YOE ask for $200k.

When you have a change of jobs, you have the ability to upgrade your current comp, so take what you make now and add 10-20% if you can

You can also look at LinkedIn, Indeed, and Glassdoor for salary transparency (at least base)

While most teachers are protected by teacher unions, I feel my voice hasn’t been heard at all with my concerns of going back to school next week. Our diocese has decided on full return 5 days/ week for all 42 schools despite a recent increase in COVID in our communities. Every other school that I know of in my state is either choosing remote learning to start the year or a hybrid approach, yet that was not an option for us. Are other Catholic schools I. The same boat? Stay safe!

I am a registered sales assistant which means I have my series 7. I also have the 63 and my Life & Health license. I was a financial advisor but the role is commission only so I decided to take a role as an assistant for some time to learn etc. I really like my role, but I only make 32k a year and after taxes I only take home about 25k. I have a gut feeling that I’m not being paid market value but it’s tough to find comparable salaries. Do you think $15.38/hr is a fair wage in this case?

Series 7, Series 63, Life, CFP, ChFC, and soon to have my MBA with a focus in Mergers & Acquisitions. I’m look to enter another area of Finance at this point instead of starting over somewhere else from scratch, but not sure what direction to go. Interested in Investment Banking or M&A.

Curious what’s a fair salary in MA? Was just told that there is likely not going to be a chance for a raise during my upcoming performance review due to my salary already being “above average for the industry” based on my employer’s questionable research. I’ve been with the company 8.5 years & am the only one in my role, which they can’t operate without. I execute tasks from two investment advisors and two financial planners - they make the decisions of what should happen & I make it happen.

I have an offer and want to negotiate

1. London base salary but I have to absorb all the expenses (train + stay)
I am thinking to negotiate to

2. home base salary and have my expenses paid for

I know that's depends on the amount I have to travel (and potentially stay) but at the moment this is unknown. Past 8 months was just twice a month + 2 nights stay.

The only thing I know is it won't be every week, the return trian ticket is about £80-100, depends I could plan ahead.
