I think there is a lot of panic going around in this bowl, so I will try to clarify a few points regarding joining IBM ISL to the best of my ability and based on my own experiences. This only applies if you actually want to join ISL, and does not apply if you're offer shopping:
1. Post getting an offer, the first thing you need to do is to contact your manager (the person who took your PDM round) and clearly ask about the project you got selected for and your roles and responsibilities. Also clarify the techstack you're likely to be using in your project.
2. IBM ISL is going through a transition phase and there are a lot of new projects coming in. Most India managers are not even sure what techstack is going to be used (unlike other product companies, IBM has a lot of proprietary tech, which only they use), so if you decide to join a new project, be ready to pick up a new tech and not crib about how it is not aligned to your skill set.
3. If you're being hired in band 7B and above, be ready to learn your stuff on your own, with little or no help from SMEs. You have a lot of resources to learn in IBM, but you need to put in the effort.
4. Interact openly with your US stakeholders and showcase your concerns while also showcasing some small wins in the initial days. They will not entertain you if you just go to them with concerns without doing anything on your own.
5. Some Indian PeMs in ISL are also new, and bring in old-school mentality with them. Be ready to not confront them directly, at least in your initial days, at least till you're not delivering independently.
6. Come to office at least 2-3 days a week no matter what. You will definitely be fired if management doesn't see your face regularly.
If you think you cannot comply with any of the above points, do not join ISL. Hope this clarification helps!
