Hi everyone, I’m seeking advice on transitioning from Transfer Pricing to a Financial Analyst role. TP tends to be extremely demanding year-round with little to no work-life balance. As a new mom, I’m hoping to find a role that allows more time for family and a better balance between work and personal life. Any insights would be greatly appreciated!

TP is a great field. If you’re good you should be able to set boundaries, but that might require an awkward conversation or two, and looking for a new employer.

Yes it is and will do, thank you

FP&A does not have super good WLB because it involves lots of unexpected ad hoc analysis on top of the regular month end close. I would recommend accounting role if you want more predictable and consistent schedule. But not sure you can transition right from TP since there are not many overlaps. I don't see good overlap in FPA as well.

Thank you, this is helpful as I was not aware of adhoc requirements.

Partner went to bat for me! 🙂
Last night, I got a nastygram from a client who basically wanted to forego due diligence in a major buyout we’re helping him with. “Stop requesting documents and just draft me my docs.” But we literally don’t know who owns what right now, terrible corporate records. This morning, the partner told me he’ll probably fire this client, big pat on the back.

Which offer should I accept? Currently staff 2 at big 4 in Tax with CPA license. I want to leave tax ASAP. Both are public companies +1B in revenue and same salary. Offer 1 - staff revenue accountant so reading contracts, speaking with the sales team and legal team, a lot of work at the end of the months to close books and reconcile transactions to make sure we are ASC 606 compliant. This track usually leads to director of revenue. Offer 2 - internal audit staff so SOX and compliance projects.
