Hi guys!

I would love to hear from you your previous experiences on current roles working at top firms in NYC: GS, MS, LAZ, Citadel, KKR, Bain, BlackRock, BlackStone, etc. I currently work at a sweatshop banking company and having horrible experience as an EA supporting c-suite. The typical hostile and abusive environment. you guys recommend a good company to work in a long term? Happy to start a community here where we all can support each other and help on advice.

Cheers!

EAs at Blackrock do really well and normally stay there for a very long time.

Hard to get interviews there

NYC has a high cost of living so I would definitely go somewhere that is going to pay you well. I have a friend who works at BlackRock and has nothing but good things to say. You could also try looking on Glassdoor to see what those reviews say.

I’m not leaving New York, this is the only city with plenty of job opportunities, better network, and higher pay than in any other city. The location is not the issue, is the job market that is slow.

Foreign LLM student here. I plan to take the NY bar exam in February. I’m thinking of taking a bar prep course (most likely Barbri). They offer two options: the “traditional” course (which lasts around 2.5 months) and an extended 6-month course. The difference in price is substantial – 2.5k for the traditional course vs 6k for the extended one. Any thoughts/recommendations on which one I should take? In case it is helpful, I come from a civil law country. Thanks!

Hello,

Would anyone be kind enough to help refer me to Google EBP?

The EA/Admin profession used to be a gateway for many people to get their foot in the door and grow into different career paths. For most organizations this is no longer the case. Do you see EA’s/Admins growing into different roles within your orgs? If so, what paths are taken? What steps are taken to get there? What I’d like to learn is whether our profession still has the capability to be a doorway or if others are seeing the same things I am; limited opportunities for development.

Bain is hiring for EA and MA roles in The US. If you’re serious about applying please reach out I’m happy to refer qualified candidates.

manager assistants are 100 percent remote while executive assistant roles are expected to be mapped to a local office. MAs support six senior managers or associate partners while EAs support 3 partners. MAs should have 1-3 years experience to apply and EAs should have 3-5 or more.

Looking to get a bit of insight on breaking into tech working as an executive assistant after working for BigLaw for 20+ years.

I've been applying to tech companies for executive assistant positions - in particular, remote work positions - and I have yet to get a nibble.

I'm extremely tech savvy and have a lot of initiative but I am afraid that these companies are put off by how long I've been working assuming that I am a middle-aged woman that is not able to go with the flow.

I’m in an interesting dilemma. Very interested in leaving my company, but I am also going through IVF. I know most new jobs require a year wait before you can go on maternity leave. Does anyone know a great company to work for that does not require this? Obviously, I’m getting a bit ahead of myself, but if this works, I don’t want to accept a job and not be paid for maternity leave because I am doing this solo. Appreciate all the help!
