Does it happen when you breathe? A sharp pain but then it “snaps” and no more? I used to get this all the time. It’s called precordial catch. Not sure if this is what you’re experiencing too but read this: https://www.healthline.com/health/precordial-catch-syndrome
Yeah Ive had precordial catches
Yep! Had this issue in high school. Found out it was acid reflux after visiting the ER a few times.
Oh no way, that makes me feel better!
Did you have specific foods that affected you the most? I’m going to try an elimination diet of coffee, citrus, and spicy foods.
Doesn't sound like heartburn to me. If it were me, I'd request an EKG if it felt concerning enough. It could also just be a pulled muscle? Hard to tell based on the description.
Weird, I've pretty much always had one done
OP please have it checked out even if it turns out to be heartburn. Keep a log of when it happens, what you've eaten (if you're an ovulating woman where you are in your cycle when you experience it e.g. low oestrogen has a proven link to heart issues). Hope you get on OK
You should see a cardiologist and get an EKG. If that shows nothing they should put you in a harness for 48hrs. It could also be gallstones that pain is very strong and right up under your rib cage. It could be nothing. But is it is happening consistently it should be ignored. Young doesn’t mean nothing is wrong. My oldest is an athlete, in shape and at 17 had to have heart ablation for SVT be sure her rate would race randomly up over 200. It wasn’t a huge deal but it was something that needed to be fixed and could have become serious if not taken care of. Good luck
I thought I was having a heart attack once but after going through the ER they ruled it out and diagnosed it as Pericarditis https://www.mayoclinic.org/diseases-conditions/pericarditis/symptoms-causes/syc-20352510

I’m a marathon runner with a congenital heart defect. I get heart pains a lot, I just ignore them.
Is that normal if you have a CHD? Or why do you ignore them?
Also, how often? Mine is happening a couple times a week sometimes.

Are you a woman? Random breast pain can be monthly or possibly an inflamed duct (even if you are a mother or never nursed).

Interstitial Costitis - inflammation in between ribs. This was years ago, so I may be mis-remembering. I recall it was caused by too much exercise.
Sharp pain near the surface, upon breathing in, doesn't last?
I had something similar. Got an EKG as a precaution in the ER but it turned out to be more muscoskeletal and I started prioritizing deep tissue massages monthly, PT and stretching. Definitely important to get it checked out by a doctor though!

Mine was a panic attack 🙄 but the EKG ruled out all the bad stuff.
