I’m a very experienced veterinary assistant who has been doing this job for about 4 years in total however because of my skill level I would say I am more of an unlicensed technician. What is the standard yearly hike in IT Security industry in North America? I have worked for 7 months in Threat Intelligence in a company in Canada, and I got a yearly hike of just 3% in my first appraisal cycle. My manager says that you get 3% when you are meeting expectations but not going above and beyond. Is this the standard or am I being underpaid? According to me, I haven't gone above and beyond every day, but there are some things I did work on exceptionally well.

I’ve recently started work at a very young tech startup. Coming from a big law background, this was a huge change of pace/environment. I’m having a lot of trouble getting used to how unstructured the startup is. It feels like hire ups give a set of instructions then talk as if they don’t remember, or then decided rules A, B, C and D applies without being clear this was the case. Is this just the general startup environment? If you experienced this before, how did you deal with It?

(Context - trying to decide what title to recommend for EAs in our org who now manage people. Currently, we have multiple levels, but all EAs have the "Executive Assistant" title regardless of seniority / level / manager status.)

When I am looking at an email attachment in Outlook it shows the Google Chrome logo but when I open, it opens in Adobe which is what I want. Even though it is opening an Adobe, my boss would like it to show the Adobe icon instead of chrome next to the attachment… anyone know how to do this ?
