I think Seyfarth and Morgan Lewis have reputable L&E groups. I’m at Littler and was at Fisher Phillips previously. If your serious about L&E there really isn’t a better place then the “Big 4”
Troutman L&E, here. We do a lot of litigation, yes. Mostly in the class action space and single plaintiff typically only with a very large client or where we have a tight relationship. Lots of covenant and trade secret lit where no insurance product coverage. We are also a downstream feeder in the M&A ecosystem, like many other biglaw specialty practices.
For the biglaw firms, do they actually do a lot of litigation? I am a litigator and I always wonder how it works in bigger firms with rates etc… especially when clients are constantly looking for a discount and work with carriers…
Do you mean firms or practice groups?
Both I guess. Not a lot of biglaw firms have strong employment groups but from those who do, which practice groups are strongest/have a better rep?
Right- my current firm policy is that we do not take out write offs unless the partner seems the time to be excessive (knowing that carriers sometimes want to write down time or try to cut). Partner write offs for client relations purposes don’t hurt your time either (because it’s a courtesy not because it is excessive). Do you find that there are lots of opportunities for advancement? How were the recent pay bumps?
