We usually do around $50 gift cards for Xmas and teacher appreciation type days. I’m sure any teacher would appreciate your gift.
Pro
Some schools have a limit, so we contribute to the communal pot, give a separate gift card for the $ limit, and then a small fun gift (soap, a scarf) that my child helps to pick out. Teachers often say the handwritten, personal notes also really make them feel good and are appreciated.

I think a personal card/gift is the best. It doesn’t have to a lot either. Teachers are under so much stress these days. Any words or gestures of appreciation for what they do will be remembered, that I know.
I lean on the generous side for teacher gift card spend each year as teachers in our district are grossly underpaid.
Pro
$50. $25 for admin.
Would it be different if it was private school? Never awkward to gift a teacher something thoughtful.
There is a home school association at ours and we donate money to it at the beginning of the year and they sent out gift cards on behalf of the class. Previous when my kids are at daycare there isn’t something like.
