This doesn't say "nobody is as successful as a" it says "works harder". Working hard is not a measure of success. Sisyphus worked very hard and it got him nowhere
You're right. It's making me realize I missed the point of this saying and completely misunderstood it.
"harder not smarter"
I completely lost the point of this saying.
I was taught to work smarter and not just harder. There’s tasks that are 100% worth delegating or outsourcing and others that I want to do myself. My time is very valuable so I always evaluate whether I’m spending it on what’s top priority and most important for me.
Thats amazing! What are the biggest changes you made in the way you work to go from 'hard' to 'smart' mode?
That’s exactly the point of the sentence. Many women, especially women of color, tend to worker way harder than needed at work (and often the same at work) because we are fearful of asking for help or don’t get it when asked. Either way, taking on way too much.
Not everyone has the privilege of knowing people and asking for help. Some of us also develop hyper independence which comes out of trauma of not getting help even when explicitly asking for it or being let down by others.
Accepting and offering help from others is a way of practicing self care and is important for mental health. I used to be that someone that did everything by herself and I feel that I’ve grown to like and accept help from others. It helps the giver as well as the receiver .
