Very aware. We just had a tremendous student walkout to protest ICE activities. The speeches were very well informed and provocative.
There were a ton of student walk outs in MN and protests across the nation and in other countries. It’s cool to see. What a wonderful community Minneapolis is. 💖
One of my goals for my Civics classes is for them to learn how to not regurgitate what they see on social media or hear from their parents, but to look at an issue from all sides. Make sure they are informed and can do this for both sides. That all information has biases. To make informed decisions and decide for themselves what they believe and not what media or parents tell them to believe.
Very little. Their main news source is Tik Tok, so the algo on that app feeds them more of what they want to see. So the only news they get is from sources that are already in alignment.
It varies greatly from individual to individual. A lot like adults.
And, of course, people sometimes think they "know" something when it is misinformation or disinformation.
I’m showing my age, but Channel 1 did have some benefits in this regard.
