Does anyone have any insights on what a typical Sr. Associate Director makes at Boehringer Ingelheim? I have a range of 170-180k which I think is fair but don’t want to be underpaid. Also, any information regarding retirement planning or medical/dental benefits would be helpful. Haven’t gotten much out of HR. Thanks in advance!

Well, I'm actually applying to jobs that are over 50% pay cuts just to get in the door and get something quickly. Granted, my husband is finally graduated and getting a job after his 2.5 year program, so our family will be fine. It's also government and not corporate, so I was prepared for a decent pay cut anyways. The benefits and retirement are worth it.
I'm also 100% OK with taking a lower position to try and rebuild my confidence after 7 years of TOXIC.
I hope you recover from the toxic workplace :( that sounds tough but seems like you’re in a better place now
It’s a 100% rise from last 3 months.
No shame at all in earning a paycheck, and opportunities will always come if you work hard.
Remember this is temporary. Stay for a year and job search elsewhere. Job security is an illusion nowadays
I'll burn through my severance in the next 3-4 months, so if I don't land anything by then, I'll be desperate enough to accept just about anything. I wouldn't be thrilled about a 22% paycut, but you shouldn't feel pathetic for taking it either. You have to do what you can to keep money coming in. This is just a temporary setback, keep applying and you'll hopefully be able to get closer to your old pay soon.
That’s such a hard space to be in. Survival is noble, even when it feels small. How can you be a little kinder to yourself this week? I am on the same boat. I told myself “never,” and then I needed the check. Honestly, what else were we supposed to do? Wishing you all the best.
I have several friends that have been looking for a new role for about six months now. They have been applying for entry level roles that pay like 20% less than what they are being paid just to land something. It is a very tough market out there.
In 2023 it took me 10 months to find a job after being laid off after 24 loyal years (many promotions and countless months of unpaid overtime). I took a 33% paycut and was so glad to have income coming in. Things were really, really tight, and I kept dipping into my dwindling savings to make up for the difference despite cutting as many extras as possible (but when a hurricane strikes and a two trees go down and your fencing is smashed, you kind of have to pay for help with that unless you're handy with a chainsaw and building fences, are strong, have lots of friends and have a big trailer to haul thousands of pounds of wood somewhere, which I am not/do not have). I was actively looking around after 12 months in the role (which was not a great one on top of the much lower pay), and after 6 months this past month, I got a better job with the same pay I had when I was laid off at the end of 2022. Granted, costs have gone up quite a bit, so I have less purchasing power now than then on the same salary, but I am still being super thrifty, couponing, buying bulk and on sales. So take what makes sense for you to have income coming in and then keep looking for something else (don't worry about not having been in the new job long enough to not look like a job hopper - sometimes things just don't work out, and if you've only done it once, you can explain it away to a future employer). Remember, loyalty does not exist anymore in the workplace, so don't let that deter you. I made that mistake, but never will I make that mistake again.
Thanks, Director. I’m pretty sure the “something better” will be retirement. I’m targeting next year.
