I have a TON of different folders for different things. And I have emails auto filtered so they go to those different folders depending on what it is. I find that this system really works well for me because I know where to look for different things.
How do you use "auto filters" I was thinking this was possible- which you confirmed I just don't know how to set it up
I use categories for the types and then I have 6 folders: To Do (I have a quick bottom that sticks it in that folder and marks it as unread so I know how many are there), Waiting for (I have done what I can), Follow Up With (make sure someone else has done the thing), Read/Policy (stuff that I might need to read or reference) and Done (for things that are done).
I keep things in conversation view so if someone else answers the question I know about it. I organize it into the folders a few times a day and work the folders bottom up to try and get the oldest done first.
I was an EA for many years and managed multiple inboxes. I use various folders for different projects/topics. I also flag items I need to follow up on. Flagging takes seconds and avoids forgetting about an important item.
