So I start my new role as Revenue Cycle Manager, South Bay Division in about 2 weeks! I’m super nervous. I’m scheduled to meet with the Senior Director and the East Bay team. This will be my first real management job leading a team. Any advice for a new manager? Training tips?

Congrats! I’m a revenue cycle manager and managing a team can be tough. Just try to learn each persons learning style and manage them accordingly. Meeting them where they are will help them be successful. Good luck!

Congratulations! Treat your time with respect. Have break periods just to chat with & relax. Do not micromanage, it will make your workers upset. I used to run a time and I would message them once a week individually to see if they wanted to chat about anything. My people begged to come with me when I left.

Congratulations!! The revenue cycle as you know is forever evolving delegating is very important, building trust (take time to get to know your staff), make sure you breathe it’s so important and know what your goal is for your team. Always be on the lookout for ways to develop your leadership skills so that you can be successful in your new role as a manager and continue propelling your career forward.

I have a few questions for people in consulting roles (both external/internal).

My partner is in corporate banking, but he wants to switch to a consulting/strategy-based role. I noticed people with those jobs typically have an MBA, and also majority of the job ads in similar roles has MBA as either a requirement or preferred qualification. So:

1) does MBA actually improve someone's chance in getting those roles?
2) are there any good Canadian MBA programs you'd recommend?

Thank you all!

I had a job interview for a role that I really want. The hiring manager scheduled me for an interview and did not show up. Emailed me an hour later stating that he got super busy and couldn’t attend, and would like to reschedule. This is a major red flag, but I can’t help but feel that I am missing out since this role pays 50% over what I currently make. Should I let the recruiter know? What’s your take on this?

Just started in-house and my days are full of meetings with little time in between to analyze or process anything. Is this typical? I keep taking lots of notes but haven’t had a chance to really review and reflect on my notes, to follow up and investigate or do any strategic or legal analysis. Lots of on the fly work for now. Maybe it’s like this just the first few days where I’m getting the lay of the land? But I suspect it’ll be like this for a while… Any tips appreciated.

Partners - Do you ever take vacations?

I have been at my current firm for about 1.5 years, and in that entire time the partner in my group hasn't been out of the office a single time. Is that normal? I can't tell if it's standard for big law partners to not take time off, if the dynamics for my group may be different (only 1 partner in the entire group), or it the partner I work with is just a masochist.

His take is that I should take certain steps before applying, however I have the experience from my previous employment in this leadership role. Would I be overstepping to apply anyways ?
