How do you feel when you see an ‘Open to Work’ status on LinkedIn?

I know some people argue it looks desperate, but honestly, I don’t see it as desperate at all. If anything, it shows clarity and confidence. In a market where visibility makes a huge difference, why not make it easier for recruiters and your network to know you’re open to new opportunities? It’s actually a smart, proactive move. Recruiters use that filter all the time, and it speeds up discovery. Plus, I think being transparent about what you’re looking for shows initiative. The whole job hunting should be discreet mindset is outdated, especially when career changes, layoffs, and pivots are so common now. The real issue is staying silent and hoping someone happens to notice you. I’d rather signal what I want.

Well said. There’s nothing desperate about it. It’s only a way to get noticed.

I see it as the person is open to work.

I think it is fine for a while.

The one that kills me is when I see the same guy I worked with a dozen years ago replying publicly to recruiter after recruiter "I'm interested, I just DMed you."

He does this even though the recruiter says in the post not to respond to the post.

On the one hand, I guess you're letting more people know you're available (but are you letting the right people know?).

On the other hand, maybe the reason you're chronically unemployed is because you can't follow instructions?

Honestly, makes me feel like I want to set something on fire. I totally understand this is a me problem, but I’m a LinkedIntrovert. I really struggle to broadcast how much of a struggle the job market is and how much of a hard time I’m having, things a lot of people have no problem leveraging and I wish these people would die in a fire. Everyone is struggling. Stop being pathetic.

Wonder if anyone can offer advice on which cert to pursue next? I obtained my CompTIA Security+ last year and wondering if I should go for the CySA+ or Pentest+ next. I was hoping one of these next certs will help me finally break into a security role and love the idea of pentesting but not sure if the CySA+ is more beneficial.
