You’re right to side with your CD, that’s their call. When account people pester you you can defer to your CD. Say “I get where you’re coming from but I’ve talked with [CD] and they want it to be [whatever].” Or offer to bring up account’s issue with the CD. “I’ll ask [CD] about that and see what they want to do.” This way you are reinforcing that there is a structure in place and they must respect who the decision makers are.
Ask your CD to speak to the account person/team. Both sides can air out their POV in an informal sit down in the CD’s office. The account POV may include some client or brand info the CD is unaware of.
