How do you rebuild trust in your next job after a toxic one? I finally got out, and while the new place seems normal so far, I can’t help but stay on edge. Every time my manager compliments me, I wonder what’s coming next. Every check-in feels like a trap. I hate how guarded and skeptical I’ve become, but after years of micromanaging, gossip, and gaslighting, it’s hard to turn that off. How do you learn to trust again when your last workplace broke you?

You just have to show some discipline and get it together. That may seem harsh, but that's the truth. If you're going into a new job carrying all the old baggage, you're just engaging in self-sabotage. And at some point you have to ask yourself how much of the difficult atmosphere at the old job was the job and how much was it stuff you brought to it.

Hmm. I feel like this is a pretty harsh take, and also assuming its the poster's fault for feeling on edge after a toxic situation they can't help. I truly don't believe its possible for someone to stay on edge forever, especially in a better environment.

Just remind yourself you’re at a new place and it’s like starting a new book. If you keep reminding yourself of what the previous job did and the new one isn’t doing any of that, you’ll never be happy.

Oh I totally understand this feeling. I felt/feel this way too. Honestly, in this situation, time and therapy is the only thing that can heal it. I've been in my new role for a few months, and I can already feel myself starting to feel better. Hang in there!

I have received 3 offers from 3 companies for PM role in the last week with my preferred company offering the least.

I would like to negotiate based on competing offer numbers - what are the things that I should keep in mind when doing so? Anything that I should be of? Like should or should I not share the actual offer letter? Etc?

Not sure if this matters but I have a total of 14YOE with 5 of them in a BA, Sr. BA roles. Started off as a software engineer.

Hey Boschlers,
Is tomorrow holiday??

Someone please tell me that I can get a rear facing child seat in the back of a mustang… otherwise it looks like I’ll have to buy a new family car to drive the little one around (wife doesn’t drive unfortunately).

Could be a good excuse to get a Taycan but was hoping I could just stick with my mustang. We said next car will be an EV didn’t think it would be so soon though!
