"VCs" in the bay are truly a dime a dozen
Got messaged by a C3 . ai recruiter. Read that wlb is bad and that the interview process is absurdly long, but the Glassdoor reviews are 4.2 and can't find actual hours worked posted by anyone. How's the culture really? I'd be aiming for DS consulting, something more functional but with DS/ML concepts as my differentiator.

Reverse the question and answer why you are excited about the opportunity you are interviewing for.
(Exciting role, new challenge, etc)
Great suggestion! Thank you.
Say that you want an opportunity to continue to build your skillset, apply your knowledge in a different industry, expand your skills, outgrown your current role or looking to grow in your career. Or, your current company is no longer a fit for your long term
goals and follow that up with what you’d like to contribute and learn at the new company.
That’s an easy question to answer. Just have to make the real reason sound better. Just make sure you can follow up with what’s better at the interviewing company etc
Thanks for the suggestions. Really helpful!
In line with the above. Never speak badly about your current company. Always talk about the opportunity to apply your current expertise to an expanded role, transferable skills, career growth etc.
Love these. Thanks for the tips!
something along the line of “my experience over the span of my career has sharpened my skill set and now I’m looking for an opportunity that can support this growth” I guess it’s very similar to the other advice. Just let them know basically that you’re ready to take the leap forward in your career and you have what it takes.
Thanks! This is really helpful.

I’d frame it as limited upward mobility and diminishing returns on learning.
Love the limited upward mobility reason—and it’s extremely relevant and true to my current company.

I like to say that I think the opportunity allows me the opportunity for developmental growth and aligns with a skill set that I can build off of. Seems to be received well.
Thanks for the helpful tips!
