How does everyone genuinely feel about AI? Not gonna lie, I think it’s great for softwares and making them more efficient, however I hate that everyone can access it. I feel like it’s going to start making people really lazy.

I think it's great for productivity and efficiency. I use AI regularly for work and have been so impressed by how advanced its become in such a short amount of time. I don't think it's going to make people lazy, just more efficient.

I do disagree partly, so many people use it to create shopping lists etc for them instead of just taking 10 minutes to do it themselves! However, I can totally see the benefits of it within the workplace. But even for making emails sound more professional etc I think is mental!

Ai companies like open ai do have some and should have a way to close the ai to just your company. So, that doesn’t just let your company stuff to be out there. However, that does mean that the company IT needs to collaborate to put those guardrails in place.

As for the overall AI that we use for personal use, yes it is fairly just out there.

They are finding that students using it are not really learning. But I think this is similar to students using calculators, Wikipedia, or only TikTok for research.

It’s still a supplement not a full solution.

I think for work use it can be great to make mundane easy tasks quicker etc. but exactly that, for personal life I think it’s going to make people quite lazy . You shouldn’t need to ask AI to work out a shopping list for you!
Also I guess using Wikipedia and TikTok for research is not going to necessarily give factual responses, but AI usually will.

I find it really lazy when it’s really obvious that someone’s used it. I think it’s great for inspiration but it shouldn’t be writing your reports for you

I agree with this 100%. I think it is good to add to work / make it more efficient, but not good when people use it to pretty much do the work, that then is just lazy

I’m exited about it. We are stretched thin at work and need to be more efficient.

I mean more in personal life, I think for work purposes it’s great! That’s what I meant by everyone having access to it

I use AI as a tool to help me use and learn software/code I wouldn’t know where to start with. For example, I’ve been learning basic python with it. However, I have made a promise with myself that I’ll think through projects as much as I can before resulting to AI. I really don’t want to lose my critical thinking skills.

I was discussing my recent job search with some friends and we got into a small debate. I stand firm on not wasting my time applying for a job that doesn't post the salary with the job description, anyone else do this? I feel like anytime I have interviewed for a job that didn't post the salary, they end up lowballing me during the offer phase.

I’ve been approached my by company that one of our large clients (who im currently project managing for) is looking for a consultant of sorts, and if they hire us, I’d be the first person asked to take on this consultant role. This isn’t something my company typically offers and would greatly change the scope of my role. Has anyone ever taken on a role like this? If so, were you able to negotiate a percentage of the consulting fee? Or was it a bump in salary during the project?

What is the standard yearly hike in IT Security industry in North America? I have worked for 7 months in Threat Intelligence in a company in Canada, and I got a yearly hike of just 3% in my first appraisal cycle. My manager says that you get 3% when you are meeting expectations but not going above and beyond. Is this the standard or am I being underpaid? According to me, I haven't gone above and beyond every day, but there are some things I did work on exceptionally well.
