It's finally clear to me that we have a market meltdown once every ten years or so.

Corona
Housing
Tech boom
Black Friday
Etc.

I'm not banking on a schedule of any sort but Taleb's Black Swan is the next book on my list.

I’m feeling better about early retirement if that’s how this goes. I like working but it’s not going to kill me to find alternatives.

DH and actually talking about working a few extra years from home location which would not be our current home. We’re well set but A few more years would leave more for the kids later.

When do you all think it’s time to exit to take your startup on full time? Is there a certain income threshold you’d want it to hit combined with personal savings? Other than insurance, what may be somethings I’m not thinking of in making a plunge? For context, 2 workers, my wife does almost everything now and I assist at nights and weekend. It’s grown from 200 a month to almost 2k a week of profit over the past five months. Has been increasing from 1.5 to 2+ over the past 3 weeks. Contd

I am ok with everything but why i need to apply for credit card? How a company can force me to have a credit card? It will directly/indirectly alter the credit score right? Cogniza

With my wife for 14 years, 2 kids under 8y - both under a lot of pressure bc Covid/work/private life/… and have been (unconsciously) running away from our couple not working “since a long time” (dixit my wife). We want to try and fix it, but I also met someone new (not sure if she would even want me) and wondering if it’s worth fixing it (since we are trying/running/avoiding it for years) - just worried about the kids…any advice

Hi all, I have about 7 years of professional experience but only one year as a Customer Success Manager. I work on mid market accounts currently. I love my job, but would prefer to support a more robust platform that will allow me to add more value for my customers.

I’d appreciate your thoughts on what compensation you might expect for a CSM transitioning to a new company with one year of experience.

To clarify, I don’t have an offer yet, I’m just looking to make a move.

Thank you!

Additional Posts in Over 50 in Consulting

My observation is that it is hard for consulting partners to land the quality public or private board roles everyone naturally targets. Despite there being a significant amount of exceptional talent that could be deployed, there is a big bias against consultants. Everyone wants “operators,” but I feel every board could also benefit from one current or former consulting partner. But sadly, that’s not the way the external world looks at things...

Feeling like my life is racing by being on the road 20 years, and saddens me that when I get home tonight my SO leaves on a business trip.

Witnessed ageism in a unusual way. I am a P, Male, 51

I quietly told the client that cannot be a reason plus I am in my 50s and you should have seen the client back paddle with compliments for me. Just a weird situation. Ageism is real.

I told him I had map pins that are EXACTLY what you need for these hard to find places. I can send them in 10 mins when I get home.

Reply? Forget it, I'm all set.

Yep, 10 mins is too long. Here I was expecting "Wow! That's fantastic!" How silly of me.
