I wish places like Salt Lake City had a larger iBanking presence. The quality of life is just so much better than NYC and SLC is so beautiful, ugh!
How do I know I am a consultant? When I type DC in my phone, it auto corrects it to DCA 😂
Total shot in the dark, but anyone looking to experience South Bay living? I’m looking to temp sublet my 2b/2ba luxury apartment in DT San Jose. With companies pushing return to office, been thinking of trying out new cities. My place is ideal for wfh couples who enjoy going out. Also open to home swap if you’re located in a big city.
Considering moving to San Diego. What are good neighborhoods to consider? 28F, single, not sure exactly what reasonable rent is there but currently paying $1,900 for a 1bed. Looking for someplace with a younger vibe, restaurants/coffee shops/breweries
I am having trouble DCAing because I don’t want my DCA to go up... (i.e. I have VOO at 290 and have 15k in cash, wasn’t able to buy more because that would mean my cost avg will go up 😂) any wise words for me to overcome this irrational emotion?
Considering moving to South Florida and wanted input on areas to look at that are a little more low key than Brickell, Wynwood & South Beach. Looking for: * Modern apartments/amenities at a relative affordable price point (~$2.5k for spacious 1 bed) * Solid dating pool (professionals) and nice bars/restaurants * Safe and centrally located (beach, MIA, shopping) Any suggestions come to mind with the above priorities?
CLT departures board is lit up like a Christmas tree... except all the green bulbs seem to have gone out....
Does anyone in Clt use UA as their primary carrier? I’m hypothesizing that there would be less competition, even going into UA hubs because I’d be going against heavy traffic
How much do senior managers make at EY in ATL? I’m trying to see if I pursue an offer or stick it out in the hopes they’ll pay up come promo time. Non tech.
Traveling to Tuscany and staying near San Gimignano - any good wine tour companies you can recommend in the area? Almost all that I find seem to leave from Florence.
Quarantine has finally given me the time to read a true classic: Hemingway’s The Old Man and the Sea. Any other book recommendations?
On a Thursday, what time should I leave DTLA to get to LAX by 6:30? Not sure if the traffic is back to prepandemic level
Does PTO Impact utilization?
(US-based question) If you work in your firm’s NYC office but live in NJ, do you pay NYC city taxes? Any obligation to pay any NY taxes? Or federal + NJ state? How does remote work factor in? And side question: If you’re based in NY but live in Florida for a few weeks, does that save you some state taxes for those weeks? Or is there a cut-off number of days?
Are month ends in industry just as bad as busy season? I had an interview this week and they talked about working 60s at month end. Not sure if that’s a red flag.
Preparing for a case interview that sounds like it’s pretty quant/mental math heavy. Any suggestions on how to learn the quant/calculation aspect in a reasonable amount of time. Any good resources? I looked online but most of them seem to cost money. Thanks!
Exited to industry and feel as growth is limited - is it a bad idea to boomerang to consulting and then exit again at a higher level? I see 5-7 yoe exits and they seem to be the people who get high visibility roles with great compensation
Legit question. Any companies pay your student loan? I don’t want tuition reimbursement, I want to pay for the degree I already got.
Is KPMG Tax Ignition- Data Analyst the same as the rest of the big 4 tax tech. Do you guys do programming with Python, R, and SQL?
Is anyone a 100% remote? I know it’s a great opp to be remote during the covid and flu season esp with a young baby (5 month old) but I can’t shake the feeling off that I’m missing HHs and just team events. Doesn’t help that I’m based out of a state where the majority of the team is not present.
Do you use all of your sick time? Does your sick time roll over? I looked at my absence balances, and I’ve hardly used any sick time. (Honestly because it’s usually more work to take a sick day.)
To all the post-9/11 veterans, it’s a somber day that unites us all in the reason we fought. It’s easy to forget - especially with the younger generation having 9/11 be a history lesson rather than something they lived through. The waters became muddy with two wars and politicians, but you all stepped up and did your duty. Thank you all for your service, it’s an honor whether we crossed paths or not.
Can someone from each firm tell me how your Progression Roles are defined? For example with PwC we have Intern -> Associate-> Experienced Associate -> Senior Associate -> Manager -> Senior Manager -> Director -> Partner. Curious on how it is other firms.
Currently in IR and want to move to a better work life balance role....maybe engineering. Do engineers get paid more than responders/analyst? Looking to get the AWS SAA and maybe try to squeeze my way into a cloud sec role since i have about a year of AWS exp.
Over the holiday shut down I want to really do some things to have alone time and relax. Anyone have a recommendation for a great spa anywhere that’s easy to get to? Either in NYC or an easy place to get to outside? I would love a spot with a serenity room and with hot tubs etc. please share anything you know and if you recommend a specific massage therapist or treatment or anything. Or if you have other spots like Buddhist temples or anything where I can get some relaxation. Thanks!
Has anyone started traveling yet? Client’s city has not had an outbreak and I’m slated to travel soon. I’m fairly nervous and refuse to fly so looking at driving 5-6 hours. I also have a young kid and my husband works lengthy hours so I’m pretty apprehensive but don’t feel like I’m at liberty to decline travel.
