How have bonuses generally been trending in IB the last few years? Arguing with my manager, who claims that the banks generally haven't been paying bonuses for a few years. Really trying to prove him wrong, just because.

Asking for wife who's also in banking. If she got ~$100k in signing bonus in 2019 for 1 year commitment in CA and started FT in July 2020, assuming she leaves before July 2021, can her employer claw back full amount in California? Some say it's much tougher to do so under CA law but wonder if anyone has any insights. Banks won't likely care about analyst signing bonuses, but associate bonus at EB with diversity bonus can be significant. If she quits before, she won't be going to another bank.

Curious what % of partners/MDs have spouses who also work. And regardless of non/working spouse, what do you do to feel a work/family balance?

Has anyone dealt with submitting domestic adoption costs for reimbursement? Do we just email them our receipts as the expense has occurred. Is there forms to fill out as well? I just started the process and made my first payment and want to know how to submit.

Weighing whether another year of IB experience would be helpful, or would just make me one year older at the same starting point in PE.
I’m 1.5 years out of college as an analyst at a middle market bank within the healthcare M&A group. Getting worked a lot but starting to operate as an associate on deals. Debating accepting an offer for a newer, lower-MM healthcare and growth focused PE firm. I know I want to go to PE at some point, but what are some thoughts on when you should go?
