What is work life balance? I’ve never heard of such a thing
Source: employee with Bain

I see where you come from. In Europe Bain is known for decent WLB (esp. before manager grade, then it kind of backfires on the manager to deliver without burning the team). Not true in the ME, not a priority for the leadership

What is this ‘log off’ you speak off?
Agree with Bain 1, for me Bain was pretty sustainable for 4 years I spent there. Barely worked more than 65 hours a week and never worked during weekends, even though I do interestingly/ analysis heavy cases that are usually tougher than government cases
Is it a joke?
No it isnt, i dont get whats funny. A lot of people talk about how bain tries to keep a decent WLB compared to other firms so I was curious to understand whether that actually exist. I dont get this bowl lol
I am at Bain and I like it. I can tell you Dubai office is so much better than many many offices like Paris and Madrid. Even better than NA office like Atlanta. Less better than DACH. Bain definitely makes the effort to keep a decent WLB. Of course we work long hours like others. Generally, partners and LT are more open to hear your thoughts on WLB and accommodate you as much as possible than the those in other firms. I have friends at McK and kearny and was always told horror stories about WLB and personal life boundaries. However, jerks are everywhere. At least at Bain, we have a system in place and are "more" transparent
Agree with B1 and B2 generally. Although I have worked more than 65 hours pretty often but no weekend work at all in the last 5 years which I hear is pretty common in other forms. Moreover we mostly follow UAE weekend unlike most firms which makes a huge difference if you have a family and generally a circle of friends who you want to spend time with
