How many jobs in five years is too many? I've changed jobs six times since 2021. Do you think employers worry about hiring me because of this? I feel like it's normal to bounce around in retail a bit. But my parents think I'm making myself unemployable.

It can go both ways. But honestly if you’re older and you’re still bouncing around a lot, it just looks like you’re not committed.

I mean I've switched like 5 or 6 jobs since 2023 myself that's because it's based on management. I manage to try to stay for a year but most of the time it's 6 months or 9. I was at a job for almost a year when they stopped giving me hours

Yes employers definitely review how long you stay with a job and it can definitely impact your chances of being hired depending on the manager. 6 jobs within a 5 year period can be seen as a lot and show a lack of commitment. However, entry level positions do have a high-turnover rate. If you have had 6 jobs within a 5 year period, that would be around 10 months on average which isn’t bad in comparison to a 3-6 month average in a retail setting.

I’d imagine it’s really up to the person reviewing the resume. I look at longevity when I review them, but I am not super harsh if I see a 6 month stint here or there. However, if this is what a bulk of your resume looks like, I see lack of committment, but also the affects of hiring someone such as that person. Just think, you’ll have to hire and train someone in less than a year for this position, which is not something a company would like to do. 10 months+ at a place is pretty good, but if every job is less than a year, most employers would probably second guess hiring you
