How much planning is too much planning? On my last trip to Japan, I built a full color-coded itinerary with activities blocked out by the hour—8:00 AM shrine visit, 9:30 coffee shop, 10:15 shopping street… you get the idea. It looked beautiful on paper, but by day three, I was exhausted and felt like I was running a marathon, not on vacation. I barely had time to just wander or sit and take things in. Do you plan every detail to maximize your time, or do you prefer to wing it and leave room for spontaneity?

Planning helps me feel grounded, but I’ve learned to leave big chunks of unscheduled time to let the trip breathe. I’ll book key things in advance, but the best memories usually come from the unplanned moments—like a local café I found just by wandering. Balance is everything.

Does anyone know if this is normal? I joined a vault 100 firm in September last year. The firm put me on tier 7. In January I had the associate review and everything was normal. After a couple of weeks, I got the call from the hiring partner telling my bonus and new salary (because of the firm-wide salary increase). I realized I still get paid as a 7 year associate. The partner said because I joined the firm later in the year, it’s normal not to advance in the next year. Is it? Thanks!

I can see short term changes but the way Amex has been aggressively marketing Platinum card, we just will have overcrowding of primary card holders 🤷🏻‍♂️

What's next, everyone has to spend min. 50k a year to get Centurion lounge access or pay per visit.
