From my experience, it’s pretty rare for associates to bring in deals early on. Most of the deal flow comes from senior bankers and existing client relationships. That said, you do start getting more involved in the process as you build your network and prove your value. It's a gradual thing
Quality of deal you’ll be able to bring in as an associate will be pretty low, unless, typically, you have strong family connection.
Some banks/firms have a bonus based on bringing in deals at a junior level, but stuff that’s been brought to me by juniors is typically (respectfully) crap.
This is factual. If you have strong family connections you probably can bring something of value (This is usually why you have the job to begin with), but more often than none, it’s usually very value and not making and any difference.
VP and above.
It’s like finding a needle in a haystack. Super rare.
