the way i see it, every role is a stepping stone in your journey and no role is permanent. well you're here now. what can you get out of it in the meantime? what resources do they have here? what skills can you develop here? what did you gain from your time here? if the answer is nothing, then there is no benefit to sticking it out. interviewers will ask you what you did, not why did you go there or why you couldn't stand it and left. they specifically want to know *how* you spent your time there.
I once took a job because I needed to move cities....I got there and realized the work culture / people were not a good match for me ...started looking for another job almost immediately....took 8 months but I found a job/company that I enjoyed and stayed with for 15 years.....those 8 months sucked....but was a small part of a big journey....made some friends along the way
If the job itself is terrible or the environment is toxic, don't need to do more than 6 months. Honestly just start looking now, and whenever you get a new job, you get one?
Kinda in this situation now. I’m at a hot tech company but really odd role so I’m grinding it for a year to get RSUs and stock discounts then I’m out.
Glad I’m not alone ;)
I stayed for 1-2 years in not great teams. Things don't improve with people problems and while a lot of turnover happens these people never leave. Id I can do it over again, I'd leave the moment I felt something was wrong.
1 month and I left. I had interviews lined up at 8 different companies the last week of my job there.
I did and ended up staying there three years.
