Why the move to IB? I'm debating between a Business Consulting role versus IB role. IB is more in line with what I want to do but was thinking maybe I could navigate the Big Four to get to strategy
No I didn’t, as I was networking I kept getting advice to just apply with my current experience.

Not gonna happen most likely
Did you transition to FDD to make the move? As I am applying with no deals experience currently, I’m also networking my way into the business valuation wing of DT.

can’t u move internally to deloitte ib? is that group not strong?
Would have been a whole lot easier 6 months ago when the markets were crazy and banks were on hiring binges. I would have hired someone with that background in a second.
We made two hires but it took us making 8 offers - pretty low yield due to the competition.
If RE is your long-term interest, not a bad move for you. But if you want more than RE, tough to make that move after only RE IB experience.
It’s going be a tough move. I had a similar move with 3 YOE from B4 risk consulting / deals advisory and it was a stupid hard sell during the hiring peak
Also second MD1. I’ve been talking with IB and PE firms, and found that RE is so niche you won’t be able to move. Some guys at the MFs even said they don’t know how to do anything else lol if you’re sticking to it, check out adventures in real estate. More generally, with RE options, check out breaking into Wall Street and Wall Street prep

I’d imagine u can move but would be an analyst starting over essentially. HVe seen it happen a few times but just be prepared to leave ur ego at the door. Biggest challenge with laterals like u is u experienced a decent work life balance so going from 0-100 is not an easy transition

Ignore what people here say you can definitely land a role as an analyst somewhere for sure. There’s a need for talent to backfill these spots.
Just saying I would mentally prepare for a way shittier quality of life. It’s easier to say than do. Everything on this job is teachable except the attitude. I’ve just found it easier ti have a positive attitude if this is your only experience out of college. It becomes tougher when u spent a few years in a chill gig. So if u can manage that you will be fine
