How to get a private sector job when I have no firm experience?

I did work as a legal assistant before law school and did a summer associateship both at a law firm. But other than that, all my experience is federal and attorney advisor roles. I’m 3 years into my career. Any of you guys have success doing this?

I have been at my current firm for about 1.5 years, and in that entire time the partner in my group hasn't been out of the office a single time. Is that normal? I can't tell if it's standard for big law partners to not take time off, if the dynamics for my group may be different (only 1 partner in the entire group), or it the partner I work with is just a masochist.

They are withholding any belongings that I left in the office and have ignored my emails asking to arrange a pick up or delivery of my personal items. How do I determine the likelihood of getting a Top Secret Security clearance? I am qualified for a number of federal jobs but haven’t applied because of an allegation of misconduct at my job five years ago. I have plenty of positive equities since then and evidence of rehabilitation for admission to the bar. I just have no idea how much forgiveness is possible in a TS security clearance.
