Question: can an employer legally withhold your personal possessions after you leave the firm? I left my old firm recently and they were not happy about me joining another consultancy. They are withholding any belongings that I left in the office and have ignored my emails asking to arrange a pick up or delivery of my personal items. I understand the covid19 environment impacts the situation, but anything I can do to get my stuff back? Any help would be appreciated. I’m based in NYC!

AMA: International Travel (US to Europe) During Coronavirus! I found very little info on this topic before my trip and had a bunch of questions which I wish someone could have helped with. Now, a friend and I both traveled US to Europe in the last week, different routes, in Econ/Biz. My partner and I are moving out of our condo building in NYC at month end, and the building management (not our landlord) has communicated to us that, on top of the 1K non-refundable fee and 1K security deposit to move out (stated in lease), they are also issuing a $1,250 "sanitization fee" for the public areas (hallways/elevators), since we happen to be moving out during COVID19. We feel this is taking advantage of tenants during this time and may not be legal. Any advice helps!

My current work exp is 5 years across 2 big 4s and a KPO in India. How much hike should I quote if I clear the interviews here? Presently my CTC is around early INR1000Kp.a. Also are they giving options of a permanent WFH post covid? If not can I work from some other office such as HYD, BLR instead of NCR?

My current building is trash and I realized having an updated kitchen, bathroom, and laundry room would be really nice, but not sure if it’s worth the price tag vs finding another place at $2500ish. Had a consultation with an attorney for legal advice on my options to address a late filing for a taxable event. They recommended me two options: file or not file. In order to help him with the consultation he asked to send him additional information like bank statements and work authorization which I sent.

If I decide to not file or go to another attorney if the fees are high, can the attorney still report me or whistle blow me to the tax authorities?
