Any BigLaw tax groups not slammed/understaffed nowadays? We're in middle of our second big wave of departures since January without a single replacement yet, and it's looking like time to escape (unless every tax group is experiencing this).

An aspiring investment banker (college student) sent me their resume and inquired about an internship. However their previous internship appears to be in “Incestment Banking”.

Not sure if anyone on here (maybe from Alabama) has any idea what this means, but if the work is applicable to investment banking please let me know.

I am about to transition from being a junior partner at a large law firm (my practice has focused on private equity M&A) to Deputy General Counsel at a large-ish Pubco. I am already giving myself a crash course in public securities and corporate governance from my firm’s training materials and my cap markets partners, but I also wanted to poll the audience for other suggestions on how to become as prepared as possible for my new role please. I’m new to in-house and I begin in January. I wanted to basically better understand M&A and all the inner workings of expanding the scope of a business into new avenues. Does anyone recommend a book or two that may be relevant/helpful? On amazon, I see “The Art of M&A” and “Working With Contracts”. Thank you for any insight.
