Split classes take away joy! We have 6-7 classes at each grade level and they split 1-2 into the remaining 5 so we can have a 5 day schedule. Big classes plus the classroom culture homeroom teachers work so hard to achieve are ruined. Advice? (Plus we are told to "not be negative" by admin.)

I didn’t learn that much on the business side and I love reading, so seems like a good idea to relax while also preparing a bit.

Have you had to change your start date after accepting an offer and how did it go? I told them I need to give 30 day notice and so I set my start date (incorrectly) assuming the background check and drug screen would take a few days to clear. However, the drug screen is now taking over a week and a half (still not finished, maybe tomorrow). Apparently things are much slower due to staffing issues and labs are backed up. It’s cutting into my 30 day notice significantly. Thoughts?

I am 7 years out in a transactional practice (real estate) and have an opportunity to move in house at a regionally respected company from a midsize firm. I have WFH flexibility at my current firm but bill about 1850-1900 per year. It would be about a 25% paycut. I have also been offered partnership starting in 2022 if I stay - not entirely clear what that long term structure looks like (would have to develop a partially independent book in next 3-5 years). Am I crazy if I leave?

Does anyone have any recommendations for software or other methods to track projects? I'm looking at the One Note to do and it seems helpful, but right now the volume of projects in expecting seems to be so large that I think something more advanced would be helpful. My GC also expects a weekly meeting to catch up on everything I'm working on, so obviously want to be prepared for those.

For Google, can you basically only get in with a reference? Should you write up a cover letter with your application? Its optional and my understanding is that companies don’t have time to read it anyway. Currently an lower level counsel at FAANG.

What legal research platforms do y’all use or what does your company subscribe to?

What is the job market looking like these days for an in-house attorney with 10+ YOE (especially if fully remote)? I took an AGC job almost a year ago for a multitude of reasons that I did not have a choice in, but my base salary is at least 60-80K less than it should be and the benefits are lacking/nonexistent. I really like my boss, my company, I love what I do, and I don’t want to job hop, but the pay is not ever going to be what I need (especially in comparison to the job duties).

What areas of legal experience are most helpful to working in-house? Are there particular areas of law you’ve encountered that you wish you knew more about for your role?

I’m the only/first attorney at my current company and I’m about to turn in my notice for another job. I’m incredibly nervous about quitting. I think they will be very surprised/caught off guard. They also have a history of not letting people work their final weeks after putting in notice and they hold grudges when people quit (we are a small company). Any advice? Pack my office in advance?
