I have a question, fellow bowlaz! I work in a small advertising agency in Oslo, Norway, and we struggle to get in contact with international ad media such as Adweek (Ad Freak) and Ad Age whenever we want to show off our creative work. Does anyone of you have a way in, or tips on how we can get in contact with media outlets like these? Cheers

I LOVE MEETING MINUTES. Mine are the best. They have been used as examples in training courses, and I’ve been tasked with teaching all the new hires how to take effective minutes. Sorry to brag, but this is the one good thing in my life right now. 😂💔😂
Of course! I start with my template, getting it ready to go with attendees, dates, some generic headers (based on a given agenda or prior knowledge) and leave spaces for description. Getting the prep work done may seem common sense, but I’ve a noticed a huge difference in the quality of my notes. I always regret taking minutes in a one note and transferring later.
Action verbs are key for being descriptive and concise. I.e. Jeff questioned, kpmg explained, Sara reiterated.
I also use quotes when necessary to capture the tone of the meeting. A manager should be able to read my minutes and understand whether a call was tense, the client is pleased, etc.
Most importantly, I type everything out - practically verbatim, and edit/condense as I go to when the conversation slows. Then lastly, no matter how much I need a break, I make myself finish my meeting minutes right after the call, and I send them out and file to work papers.
It is much more tiresome on days with back to back meetings, but I promise adopting some of these habits will improve your life. The minutes dread can definitely build if I procrastinate 🙃

Look on the bright side, when you get promoted you can find the newly minted associate to do the task.
SC1: Or walk through a redo with the junior staff person and provide feedback so they are able to take on the job going forward
Yeah especially when the meeting doesn’t have any conclusions, like for an hour they are talking back and forth and nothing has been achieved.
So basically every meeting? The worst
Especially if you get the feeling no one reads them
You have to pay your dues, Associate.
Yeah. But everyone paid their due....
But no one writes the minutes, what we will not bother with reading later?
To add value, summarize the weeks worth, or days worth of meeting headlines. It really helps build the context of what’s happening and where the client is coming from. If you can synthesize a series of meetings and the ‘so what’ people will see the value you are adding.
