I am a technical BA in IT close to 10 years. My job contract ended Dec' 23, started searching job, got my first interview (Jan'24) with an oil and gas as Risk analyst. The job ad posted was for BA but its from Risk Management. I was hesitated for the role as Its non IT ,after 2 round of interviews got offer from them. Parallelly i was interviewing for BA roles from IT. So I declined the offer. 2024 was full of rejections, I regret for declining the perm offer now. Did i took a wrong decision?

I just learned I was parentified severely, especially emotionally. The discovery came from outside of therapy, but having a place every week to sit down, slow down & reflect def led to it. Being enmeshed with my parents like this was a cause for my anxiety, low self esteem and workaholic, people pleasing tendencies. I'm working on extricating myself and finding my identity again in a way that will be easy on my conscience and values..so I'm learning! Please dont hesitate to go to therapy!...

How would you approach an interview process where the company sounds exciting but you feel confident the role would not be a growth opportunity for your skill set?
