Can’t tell you how many times my “contracts” end with little notice. I don’t suggest burning bridges, but sometimes what’s good for the goose is good for the gander.

Nope, especially if you’re month to month. They will tell you the same budget isn’t approved for next month. However, if you’re remote and freelance. Most company’s would rather give additional work to freelancers they know. That’s how your portfolio grows via relationships. The recruiting & freelancer world is small.
Did your current agency put a “hold” on you for when your contract ends? If not, you don’t need to say anything unless they ask to extend in the next week. At which point, you say “Sorry, I’m unavailable.”
No I don’t think so.
A. Are you remote at either? If so, do you think you could do both? (Make sure they’re not owned by the same holding company first.)
B. Without more context, it’s hard to say which to pick. A six-month contract beats a month-to-month, but also, contracts can be pulled at any time for any reason. I had a 12-month contract pulled on me with one week notice earlier this year bc they were pivoting to AI. That said, if you’ve been with the first agency awhile and they keep renewing, that might mean they like you and don’t want to go through the hassle of bringing someone new up to speed.
How long have you been with the MTM agency? It might be time to ask them to commit to a longer term.

Everything is at will. Permanent & freelance. You’ll need both. Keep your name good.
It helps to give them replacement options if you know any writers.
Do them both if they are remote
