Am I allowed to own equity in a U.S.-based company while on an H-1B visa? I have heard that I am allowed to own equity in a company as long as I am not actively involved. What constitutes "active work" under H-1B regulations?

Feel like audit scheduling is always done on a knifes edge in that the timeline and staff schedules are enough so that if everyone works 60 hour weeks and no issues are identified then it can be filed on time. But even small things that increase the work can wildly throw off the schedule and cause hours to skyrocket for the staff on the job. No real point here, just ranting.
