Hello All, I have offer in hand of 27.5 LPA+15% variable from ZS Associates as a BT Solutions delivery consultant and now my current company is ready to retain me by matching the offer & assuring that they will send me onsite to UK in couple of months. Now I am in a dilemma of what to do as I have been looking for onsite opportunities for my entire career so far. Kindly share your thoughts. Finally found THE one, after over a year of searching and trying out at least 5 different ones!
A nice comfortable office chair.

My criteria: mesh seat and back, arms, headrest
I tried cheap ones from Amazon. Expensive, second hand gaming chairs. Tried HM Aeron (second hand) and while I didn't like the bulk and the general design, I was sold on the mesh seating. I wanted to get the ErgoChair 2 from autonomous, but it doesn't have mesh seat.
AMA.
Happy fly day from DCA 🙃🙃🙃

And then the sass from the partner zooming in from their home office "there's alot of background noise coming from you, it's unprofessional"
And of course that same partner voted for RTO

Open office design was such an atrocious idea.

It brings us together so we can collaborate over the binders and note pads. Can't share those over a call, no sir.
Open office design has always been awful. I could never focus and it was always awkward being able to make eye contact with people sitting so close to me. Sometimes I just sit in soundproof booths to do work because that’s when I can actually focus.
High-walled cubicle life was something I enjoyed.
I think if we weren’t consultants with teammates all over the world and predominately all on calls at the same time, it would be a great idea. I worked in finance before and it was actually super great to have all my team in one place.
Yeah, I’d value it if my team was always local. But often I’m the only one in my office, and sometimes the entire US, on a project at any given time
U mean like cubbicles?
OP is probably a Gen Z
But how am I supposed to micro manage you if I can’t see your screen and hear your exasperation from my corner office?

Panopticon model. Partner sits in the middle and can see into each glass office surrounding him and can turn on/off intercom into each cell at will
This is something Cal Newport argues in his books
In the olden days, if you were leading a call, you’d leave your cubicle and go to a room or take it in your MD’s office otherwise you risked getting asked to move (no one wanted that). You’d def get shit talked behind your back if you talked loudly in the open. If your role was minimal, you could stay in the cubicle but speak a bit quietly. I think the norms have changed a ton.
