Feeling really torn between fed loans and private loans for my MBA. Rates are better (and no origination fee) with private and very likely won’t take advantage of the protections offered with fed loans— but after seeing how uncertain the world can be with COVID/financial crisis, it does make me take pause. Should I just do federal and then refinance after working for a bit post-grad when I’m feeling more stable/secure in my finances/career?

Fed loans- ole Joe will wipe those out soon 😉

I have a feeling MBA grads with six figure salaries are not gonna be included in that 😞they’re not a sympathetic bunch

I did ~ 50/50 for undergrad (not a conscious decision, just happened that way). My private loans had much better leniency with the COVID impacts. Interest rates sitting at 0% through September 2023. Fed loans start accruing interest again in November of this year.

you can split your loan amount between federal and private (and then refinance). this would lower the origination fee for the federal right bc its based on percent of loan right? also remember that interest on loans accrues in grad school.

I'm going to accept an offer that's 150k+🎉 I'm a single filer, no kids. I'll be able to max out: 401k, HSA, but from my understanding, I will not qualify to utilize IRA? Aside from building a 6-month emergency fund (HYSA), what are potential next investment vehicles? I do know I want to start purchasing real estate for cash flow. But what about mega-backdoor Roth IRA? I'll admit, I still need to read more on it.

Just curious what investment vehicles you're using to get to FIRE.

I have an interview with Korn Ferry for an associate principal role and am curious about others’ experiences have been with work-life balance here. Also, I have an idea of what I should be compensated in this type of role, but any insights on how they pay compared to others would be helpful. Are you traveling during the pandemic or have client interactions been virtual? Lastly, if you are a consultant here, are you on billable hours? My current consulting role is not - so this would be new.
