Always have a "hurricane kit" ready in case you lose power.
Just have a flashlight, ~4 gallons of water per person, and about a week's worth of shelf stable food
While usually there will be somewhere near to recharge your phone a back up charger packs or a hand crank method of charging. But really if you stay put and don't drive into m9ving water or anywhere you cannot see the curb, you will be fine. They always like to hype it.
Its not as bad as you think and tbh, I think snowfall is way scarier, lol. If its just you, a Case of water, shelf foods ( i prefer the lunch kits with crackers), maybe a battery backup to power your laptop and phone bc electricity will more than likely go out. Just stay in.. dont go out driving and get stuck in a flooded street. Also, If you have an outside dog/cat... bring them in.
All good advice. Get a battery operated radio, bring patio items in. Not fun, inconvenient, but youll get used to it. Houston sucks.
