I bought my home out in Forney, Tx. 25 mins from downtown. Best area to potentially double your property value in the next 5-7 years. Other areas have plateaued, if you would have bought your home 5 years ago then yes. I walked into my house with over 40k equity, new construction home.
Definitely lol but close to downtown. Best value to still be close to an airport somewhat. Love field is close.
Moved here last year. Look at Wylie, TX. Fits your price range and its 30-45 minutes from Dallas and both airports. It's adjacent to Plano and growing fast. I live on the more suburban side but there is also a more rural side which may help you get some of the nature you are looking for.
Have you been to Wylie recently? I live on the Plano/Murphy side. It takes me 35 minutes to get to DFW, 40 minutes to DAL, 35 minutes to Legacy place in Plano so less time than everything in between. Currently work in Richardson and it is 30 minutes garage to job's parking garage. We go to uptown Dallas, and Plano regularly on weekdays and -ends for restaurants and bars and it's always a reasonable commute.
There’s no nature in Dallas
You can kind of make it work -
White rock lake is awesome for walks and biking
Cedar ridge is ok for a mini hike (2 miles)
Lots of lakes for boating in the far burbs
Otherwise you need to go to Austin, Oklahoma, or Arkansas
I’d recommend Addison, Carrollton, Coppell, Farmers Branch, or Lewisville
All great recommendations. Will start looking
You can get something smaller and older in frisco
Feel free to DM me. Frisco Ruff Riders, Texas Legends are both D-league/AAA feeders into the pros. Fun to watch. Dallas cowboys training facility. FC Dallas soccer. These are all in Frisco. Below are a few “park” areas in Dallas. I tried to cover north and west for you. Keep in mind these are joke/bike trails mostly.
Proximity to Dallas is great and you have nightlife in Plano
Arbor Hills Plano
Erwin Park Mckinney
Lake Lewisville 121 area Lewisville/The Colony
Proximity to Dallas, sucks! No nightlife
NorthShore Trailhead Grapevine/Flower Mound
Knob Hill Flower Mound
I will echo that outdoor life SUCKs here! One reason we are looking at Colorado or California in our future
Hope this helps!
You have no kids and want to live in the suburbs?
I mean it just depends what suburbs they’re in and what you’re considering. Dallas is surrounded by suburbs whereas DC is on the coast so it’s geographically different...
Las Colinas, average starter home is like 430 though
That’s what happened to me...
Good luck staying under $400k
So many places under 400k in the burbs? Even in Plano there’s options
Married couple no kids. Location more important than house finishes etc
