That is funny. I haven't gotten that question yet, but have had parents complain about having to buy kleenex. Like, shouldn't they already know how many times kids have to blow their noses? lol

On the list for one of our elementary schools, each child has to bring 3 boxes of Clorox Wipes and 4 boxes of Kleenex. Now imagine if you have 5 kids!
Clueless high school teacher here. What do you do in kindergarten that uses 36 glue sticks? Asking out of genuine curiosity.
The district created supply list is absolutely ridiculous! Not surprised though because this is non-classroom teachers creating the supply list! 🙄 I teach 4th grade and the glue sticks they are told to bring is 10 sticks each student and those are gone by the first grading period! I tell them to get ONE bottle of glue and I give them a mini lesson on glue and it lasts ALL school year. We use interactive notebooks for all subjects, so glue sticks are a waste of time and money. They were just never taught how to use liquid glue properly! 🤔…Because of that, many teachers would rather use glue sticks instead of teaching them how to use their fine motor skills and use liquid glue.
I think you might be buying supplies for all the kids who don’t bother to bring in any.

Exactly!!! I know of one family that hits all of the school-supplies donation locations and the food pantries. Of course, they all have the newest phones and top of the line shoes.

I always allot a certain amount of supplies for my students each grading period (pencils, pens, glue, Kleenex, folders, cheap markers, etc). I tell my students that when supplies are gone during the grading period, they are responsible for bringing their own. If they want to use my sharpies, flairs pens, the tape runner, crochet hooks, etc, (I purchase these items myself) they have to check them out and sign for them and initial on their return. Most of the time, they are pretty good about waste. It always cracks me up when students use my Doodle calendar with metallic pens and pencils, and a student will speak out and say, "Alright, who has the calendar pens?!!!" (I always have at least one student who takes on the task of counting them because they know when 2 are missing, I put them away).
