My company (biotech start up >50 employees) are looking to collect diversity data about current employees to provide to candidates when they ask about the company as well as to investors. Any thoughts on whether this is industry standard? What roadblocks to be aware of? Advice on how to go about this as meaningfully as possible?

Latinx - help! We used this term in our diversity spotlight discussing Hispanic Heritage Month. One individual said that in English a group of Latinos would just be Latins to be gender neutral. I understand the word is controversial but is “Latins” grammatically correct? I assume we should just say Latin Americans, but trying to understand if Latins is also accurate.

Can we all agree that gender reveal parties are an annoying thing to subject your friends to?

Someone on LinkedIn expressed disappointment about the lack of diversity from the big law firms in TX that were posting pics of their summer associates. A managing partner commented that he thought the post might be about a pic he posted (12/14 SAs were white). He tried to defend this by saying that they had LGBT and socioeconomic diversity. The fact that he recognized that his pic might be part of the problem says it all. Law firms need to do better. Sorry, I just wanted to rant.

My wife and I are moving to Boston from overseas (we’re from Italy and we’ve recently won the diversity visa green card lottery).

I've observed so many corporate versions become an advertising strategy (SM posts, diversity reports) without doing the actual work (increasing representation in senior leadership, salary analyses, having an effective reporting system for bias). I am sick of being a realtor! I've been trying for 5 years and have only sold 3 houses. Where I'm from (small Southern town) nobody is buying. Most people's families already own homes and it's just a bummer to see all these nice houses deteriorating over time.
