I currently work in FDD and I have some audit experience as well. I’m a CPA. I’m considering a move to a forensic accounting role at a mid-size investigations firm. One of the reasons I’m interested in switching is I like the idea of investigating and “solving mysteries”. While I understand every project wont be Enron or FTX, is the day to day still interesting? Anyone else made the switch from FDD?

Depends what you mean by “mid-size.”

As long as you’re working with a firm large enough to have a variety of client and project types, the day to day can be very interesting. Or at least more interesting than pretty much any other form of finance/accounting.

That said, some smaller firms basically just rely on a single repetitive project type that they do over and over again for the same type of clients. I imagine that gets old.

I did not come from FDD but know many people who did.

Happy to chat about AlixPartners if interested

Offering to help someone learn about the field and explore career options is cringey? You must be a joy to work with!

It can be. Expert/disputes work can be more interesting IMO.
